RE/Search is a magazine and publisher founded by V.Vale at City Lights Books of San Francisco. It originated from the iconic Search & Destroy punk publication of the late 1970s. Since 1980, Re/Search has been successfully archiving all things counter-culture. Printed in short runs as large format books and filled with creative visionaries, it examines various personalities and provides them with a space to speak for themselves. Far from academic, Re/Search instead acts as a medium for accessing a counter-cultural community.  Without trying to define or directly influence, Re/Search instead historically catalogs.
